Kargil, Sept 11: In a ground-breaking tribute to the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War, the 2 Ladakh Battalion NCC has ignited a new era of youth empowerment by hosting its inaugural training camp right in the heart of Kargil the hallowed ‘land of martyrs.’
This pioneering effort is set to supercharge patriotism, discipline, and community spirit in one of India’s most critical border frontiers, where rugged terrains echo tales of valour.
The camp kicked off with a rousing inauguration led by Colonel Suveer Seth, the battalion’s Commanding Officer, who delivered a stirring address to a gathering of Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), Permanent Instructors (PI) staff, and eager cadets hailing from both Kargil and Leh districts.
Spanning several intense days, the program plunges participants into hands-on drills designed to forge unbreakable bonds and ironclad skills.
Cadets will tackle precision foot drills, hardcore survival techniques, fieldcraft mastery, and live firing sessions, all tailored to cultivate resilience, sharpen leadership instincts, and amplify teamwork in extreme conditions.
This milestone not only honours Kargil’s legacy but also equips the next generation of Ladakhi youth to stand tall as guardians of the nation.
Following the inauguration, cadets set out on an endurance hike to Point 3205, designed to test their stamina, determination, and spirit of adventure.
As part of the training program, the Union Territory Disaster Response Force (UTDRF) conducted a series of demonstrations on disaster management and emergency response, in which cadets actively participated.
These exercises provided cadets with valuable hands-on experience in handling disaster-related situations, further enhancing their preparedness and sense of responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Col. Suveer Seth highlighted the importance of NCC training in nurturing future leaders of the nation and lauded the enthusiasm of cadets participating in Kargil’s maiden camp.
This pioneering effort reinforces the NCC’s mission of character building, national integration, and preparing youth for service to the nation.
