JAMMU: In a significant security breakthrough, Jammu Police on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old youth who has emerged as a key suspect in a terror-related case, following revelations that he was allegedly radicalised online and in contact with foreign handlers.
Police said the accused, originally from Reasi district and currently residing in Jammu’s Bathindi area, was apprehended in connection with an FIR registered under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (terrorist activity) at Bahu Fort police station.
Preliminary investigation suggests the youth had been radicalised through online platforms and was allegedly planning to carry out a terror attack. According to officials, he had been in touch via mobile phone with several numbers traced to Pakistan and other foreign countries.
Police have seized the suspect’s digital devices for forensic examination, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of his involvement and possible links to terror networks.
