New Delhi, Jan 9 (PTI) India saw a single-day rise of 170 coronavirus infections on Monday, while the active cases declined by 52 to reach 2,371. According to the Union Health Ministry data updated at 8 am Monday, the total number of cases is now 4.46 crore (4,46,80,094). The death toll stands at 5,30,721 with one more fatality reported from Madhya Pradesh, the data stated.

Kannauj (UP), Jan 9 (PTI) Three passengers were killed while 18 others injured as a Sultanpur-bound bus fell off the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Piprauli village here amid dense fog, police said on Monday. The bus carrying 30 passengers was coming from Anand Vihar in Delhi, SHO of Thatia police station, Kamal Bhati, said. Four of the passengers were seriously injured in the accident that took place on Sunday night.

Bareilly (UP), Jan 9 (PTI) BJP MP Varun Gandhi has asked sugar mills to clear dues they owe to farmers or be ready to face protests. At a public function in Arsiaboj village in Baheri assembly segment, which falls under his parliamentary constituency of Pilibhit, Gandhi said if sugar mills don’t start paying dues to farmers immediately, a protest meet by cane-growers will be organised at their gates. He named two sugar mills in particular. He also raised questions over the unemployment scenario in the country.

New Delhi, Jan 7 (PTI) A Delhi court on Saturday sent Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating on a woman co-passenger on an Air India flight, to judicial remand for 14 days while rejecting a plea by police for his custody. New Delhi, Jan 7 (PTI) Delhi on Saturday recorded a minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below the average and the season’s lowest so far, according to the India Meteorological Department. Very dense fog reduced visibility at Palam to around 50 metres, affecting road and rail traffic. The visibility at the Palam observatory near the Indira Gandhi International Airport was 25 metres at 5:30 am.
