Washington, Jan 13 (PTI) Nine-year-old NRI girl Tanvee Vallem has been invited to participate in the World Women’s 9-Ball Championship, making her the youngest person to get an invite for the pool tournament, according to a media release. The 2023 Kamui World Women’s 9-Ball Championship is slated to be held in Atlantic City from January 19 to 22 after a four-year hiatus. Nicknamed the ‘Lilac Tiger’, Tanvee achieved a similar feat when she participated in the World Junior 9 Ball Championship held in Puerto Rico in November 2022.

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Satellite images of Uttarakhand’s Joshimath released by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) show that the Himalayan town sank at a rapid pace of 5.4 cm in just 12 days, triggered by a possible subsidence event on January 2. Joshimath, the gateway to famous pilgrimage sites like Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib and international skiing destination Auli, is facing a major challenge due to land subsidence. The preliminary study by ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) said the land subsidence was slow between April and November 2022, during which Joshimath had sunk by 8.9 cm.

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 13 (PTI) India’s HS Prannoy went down fighting to world number 7 Japanese Kodai Naraoka in a gruelling three-game quarterfinals at the Malaysia Open Super 750 badminton tournament here on Friday. The 30-year-old from Kerala ran out of steam in the 84-minute contest, losing 16-21 21-19 10-21 to the 21-year-old Naraoka, who seemed faster and fitter, despite playing two long matches in the earlier rounds. This was Naraoka’s third win over the Indian in as many meetings. He had defeated Prannoy in three games at the Singapore Open and World Tour Finals last year.

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Realty firm Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd on Friday said it has acquired 4.25 acre land in Bengaluru to develop a housing project and is expecting revenue of around Rs 400 crore from this property. The company expects to launch the first phase of the project within the calendar year 2023. In a regulatory filing, Mahindra Lifesapce, the real estate and infrastructure development arm of the Mahindra Group, informed that it has purchased 4.25 acres of land in Singasandra, South Bengaluru.

However, it has ordered a status quo on the construction activities at the site. New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Parliament’s Budget Session will begin from January 31 with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
