SRINAGAR, Sept 26: Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth has called for maintaining constant vigilance and intensifying intelligence-led operations in Jammu & Kashmir to effectively counter emerging terrorist threats.
Gen Seth, who visited forward areas of north and central Kashmir, including Kupwara and Budgam, on Friday, reviewed the operational preparedness of troops deployed in the region.
According to the Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI), the Army Chief visited a Rashtriya Rifles sector headquarters under the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps and took stock of the preparedness for counter-terrorist operations.
He was briefed on the prevailing security situation and measures being taken to detect, deter and respond decisively to terrorist threats.
Commending the troops for their professionalism, commitment and high level of operational preparedness, Gen Seth urged them to remain vigilant, sharpen intelligence-led operations and retain the ability to respond swiftly and precisely to emerging threats.
He also stressed the need for close coordination and seamless synergy among all stakeholders to improve situational awareness and strengthen the overall counter-terror response.
During the visit, commendations were awarded to deserving soldiers in recognition of their gallantry and exemplary service during counter-terrorist operations.
Gen Seth emphasised the importance of staying ahead of the evolving threat, maintaining sustained operational focus and ensuring a coordinated and calibrated response while safeguarding the local population.
The Army Chief’s visit comes amid continued counter-terror operations in north and central Kashmir. Earlier this month, security forces killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander identified as Pakistani national Yasir during an operation in the Yusmarg forest area of Budgam district.
Security forces continue to maintain operational focus across the Pir Panjal range and adjoining forest areas to detect terror hideouts and prevent infiltration attempts.
