RAJOURI/JAMMU, MAY 17: A high explosive artillery shell was discovered in a forward village in Rajouri district, officials said on Sunday.
The unexploded shell was spotted by locals in Dhanaka village under the Nowshera sub-division, who immediately alerted security forces. Following the alert, a joint team of police and the Army reached the site and cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure.
Officials said the device was examined on-site by technical experts before being safely destroyed in a controlled explosion by the Army’s bomb disposal unit, in accordance with standard safety protocols. Authorities said the swift response likely averted a potential accident in the area.
