New Delhi, March 13: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the completion of key safety and commuter projects on Jammu & Kashmir’s strategic NH-44, costing around ₹171.25 crore.
Upgrades include fixing blackspots at SIDCO Chowk and the Gole Mela–Sangoor stretch, building a Limited Vehicle User Path with service roads at Samba, and modern wayside amenities at Jhajjar Kotli, Qazigund, and Marhama.
These targeted accident-prone and high-traffic spots to improve circulation, safer turns, road geometry, and reduce congestion.
The new amenities offer rest areas, parking, food courts, and toilets for travelers, tourists, and truckers.
Gadkari said the enhancements ensure smoother, safer travel on NH-44, linking Jammu to the Kashmir Valley and beyond.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, we’re boosting J&K’s highways for better connectivity, growth, and tourism,” he added.
