Kargil, Jan 23: As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month, Traffic Police Kargil on Thursday organised a pamphlet distribution and public awareness programme at the busy Iqbal Bridge Junction in Kargil.
The drive was led by District Traffic Inspector Fazil Abbas, who, along with traffic personnel, interacted with drivers and commuters and distributed pamphlets highlighting basic road safety rules.
Speaking to the media, Inspector Fazil Abbas said the aim of the programme was to remind road users about simple but essential safety practices. He stressed the need for wearing seat belts, avoiding rash and negligent driving, and not using mobile phones while driving. He said that many road accidents can be avoided if people follow traffic rules in letter and spirit.
The District Traffic Inspector underlined that traffic regulations are meant to protect lives and ensure smooth movement on roads. He appealed to motorists to remain alert, respect speed limits, and show patience, especially at busy junctions.
Inspector Abbas also urged citizens to act as responsible road users by encouraging others to follow traffic norms. He said spreading awareness at the community level can help build a culture of safe driving across the district.
The Traffic Police said similar awareness activities will continue at different locations in Kargil during Road Safety Month to reach a wider section of the public.
