Leh: Ladakh is expected to receive scattered snowfall from January 16 (tomorrow) onwards, as per the latest forecast by the Meteorological Department. However, till today the weather remained mostly clear to partly cloudy, after which snowfall activity is likely to begin.
Light to moderate snowfall is predicted on January 16 and 17 at several places, mainly in higher areas and important mountain passes such as Zoji La. These areas are usually the first to receive snow during changing weather conditions.
Weather conditions are expected to remain generally cloudy on January 18, followed by a more active snowfall window from January 19 to 23. During this period, light to moderate snowfall is predicted at scattered locations with a high probability of 65 to 70 per cent, indicating a sustained snowfall phase across several parts of Ladakh.
People have been advised to stay alert and plan travel carefully, as snowfall during this period may affect road connectivity, especially on high-altitude routes. Authorities have urged residents and travellers to keep checking weather updates and take necessary precautions.
