Srinagar, Dec 17: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday accused the ruling National Conference (NC) of abandoning its stance on restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, instead aligning with the BJP’s agenda on statehood and administrative reforms.
PDP leader Waheed Para said the NC’s claim of defending Article 370 was now just a façade. In a post on X, the party stated, “From labeling everyone as BJP’s B Team to now pushing BJP’s statehood and business agenda, NC has fully normalised the aftermath of August 5 and reinforced the so-called ‘holy alliance’. Their pretence of fighting for Article 370 is over—from election promises of special status to now requesting ‘business rules’.”
The remarks came after three NC Rajya Sabha members submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking restoration of statehood, notification of business rules for Jammu and Kashmir, and the return of prisoners lodged outside UT jails.
