Dharamshala/Leh, Oct 2: “Bharat is the land of diverse spiritual and knowledge traditions — a true Vishwaguru.” With these words, His Holiness the Dalai Lama extended his greetings to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on its 100th Foundation Day, commending the organisation for a century of dedicated service.
In a special message marking the centenary celebrations, the Tibetan spiritual leader hailed Bharat as a land of profound spiritual traditions and knowledge systems. He underlined that the strength of India lies in its civilisational ethos of plurality and learning, which have inspired generations across the globe.
Reflecting on the Sangh’s journey, the Dalai Lama described its hundred years of work as “a rare and unparalleled example of dedication” towards society and nation-building. He acknowledged its role in safeguarding cultural heritage, fostering social unity, and contributing to both material and spiritual progress. Citing its outreach in education, social welfare, disaster relief, and work in remote regions, he noted that these initiatives reflect the organisation’s enduring resolve.
The Tibetan leader also recalled the Sangh’s long-standing support to the Tibetan community in India. Expressing gratitude, he highlighted its humanitarian efforts for Tibetan refugees and its engagement in the broader discourse on the Tibetan cause.
Reiterating his commitment to the preservation of India’s ancient knowledge systems, His Holiness emphasised the universal relevance of harmony and interfaith respect. He underlined that these values remain essential for human progress in a world often marked by division.
Concluding his message, the Dalai Lama invoked the blessings of the Tri-Ratnas — the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha — for the success of every initiative undertaken by the Sangh, while extending prayers for the well-being and prosperity of its members.
